    Hi here ^^

I can understand here two question,

    1) You're friends are not able to connect to world.
    2)
, I suppose here you talk about a dns name ^^

So, you're friends will probably not able to connect to you (I consider you taking youre own PC to host..) beceause the Firewall block the programs/port, and have to configure the router to route the port to the PC. It's very very depending on Wich router you have at home, each one is different.

For the dns name, you can use free service like no-ip.org and install a DUC client to get dns always updated on your home IP.

You'll probably have other question, ask here, if i can I will help you.

*take a not, I'm from from the staff here, I juste help if I can in my way ^^

The real question is, what you want to do now ? ^^

With an explicit question, this is more easy to me to answer :p

After, open and login into DUC. Try to connect to your DNS, if false, try with "127.0.0.1" if you can connect to this adress, you have a problem, finally if you can connect to the dns without problem, you have get it !

ok so the DUC says that all three things have a green check and the last one is connected to my ip not 127.0.0.1 its my real ip which I don't want to give out...which is why im doing this...

Yes, I know the 127.0.0.1 isn't youre ip ^^ The 127.0.0.1 is an IP anyone can connect to, is the internal IP of your home-network.

    And additionnal information, juste to be clear as water;

    1) In the fact, a DNS is juste another way to give your IP to other person and it's more easy to keep in the head. If ANY persons want to know the IP behind a dns, juste have to ping the dns and will get the ip .. or use a million on tools on the web.
    2) If a real, I say REAL, hacker want to hack your computer or network ... the dns or any things sound like that will never stop the hacker ! If a hacker don't have the IP and really you to get into the network, he will do, that's it. And let me ask this question ... Why a hacker want to connect to your PC ? seriously ? View the "My cats 2014 pictures" or "Summerfall vacantion trip" ... I don't think at all ^^.
    3) By using dns or not, after you entered in terraria, in the server list, the dns will be resolved to the real IP.
    4) If you REALLY want to be anonymous, you have to install the server in a real server machine, with proxy, and connect by vpn, but listen this, you don't need this at all for a terra-server with 4 or 5 friends.

Feel free to ask question if you want, if I can, I will answer, but keep in mind, I don't do the job for you. I can help you to setup a correct server setup on your own computer, but that's it.

I hope you understand at all this information, and you sound like a very very beginner so, I know is a lot of information at this point. Keep the head up ! :)

I believe Twitch would accept domain names (DNS) for IPs. What Patrick is trying to say (simply) is that anyone can find your IP from your domain name (DNS), so you aren't really hiding it.

If the DNS doesn't work, check the router config, as say to the top of this thread.
You have to open oprt and redirect to the correct machine, each router is different.

Yeah, it's exactly what I want to explain. Thank's

ok so I use a Linksys router and I hope open port doesn't mean port forward because I tried that and failed. :)
what im hoping to achieve here is being able to tell my viewers of my streams my DNS name and they could join my Tshock server.
And thanks for all you're help!

For my part, I can't do it for you, sorry.

After the step of router, normaly you'll be able to send dns to viewers, and I will say, no pain, no gain. lol.

    Good luck.

    My advice:

    1) Make sure players can connect to your IP. If people can't connect to your server using your IP, your domain name will not work either. (You can test this by going to canyouseeme.org and checking port 7777).
    2) If you can, then wait a bit to make sure other computers are told about your domain name (it can take up to a few hours for your domain name to work for everyone).
    3) Use the same step as #1, but use your domain name instead. If it works, then everyone should be able to use your domain name to connect.

Ok I did what you said in step #1 and it kept saying "connection timed out" also I don't know if I should but I don't have my computer hooked to my router im using a wireless connection although If I need to I can hook my computer up to my router and use a Ethernet cable...and once again thanks for youre time and help! :)

Cable or Wifi, it's not the important point.

You have to find a way to redirect and open the port on the router for your PC.
